Electricity markets for DC distribution systems: Locational pricing trumps wholesale pricing

چکیده
DC distribution systems are a promising alternative to existing AC systems. They connect customers local energy sources without conversion, thus reducing power losses. However, the unique features of impose strict requirements for system operation compared AC. Within context liberalized market, this article demonstrates three market designs—an outcome comprehensive engineering design framework—that meet those requirements. an integrated design, which incorporates all costs into prices; that passes wholesale prices directly prosumers; and locational relieves congestion with nodal prices. An optimization model estimates designs’ performance by simulating realistic system, featuring high share electric vehicles. Results indicate is optimal in theory but computationally infeasible practice. The price aiming at constraint-free trading requires substantial investments flexibility. yields nearly urban networks considered best feasible

Understanding Competitive Pricing and Market Power in Wholesale Electricity Markets
In the ̄rst year of the deregulated California electricity market, a number of issues have arisen that relate to the competitiveness of the wholesale electricity market in the state. There have been lively debates over the need for price caps in the California Power Exchange (PX) day-ahead market and the California Independent System Operator's (ISO) real-time and ancillary services markets. The...
متن کاملLocational Marginal Pricing Approach for a Deregulated Electricity Market
---------------------------------------------------------------------***--------------------------------------------------------------------Abstract In restructured electricity markets, an effective transmission pricing method is required to address transmission issues and to generate correct economic signals to reduce the generation cost. It is necessary to develop an appropriate pricing schem...
متن کاملLocational Marginal Pricing (LMP) in Deregulated Electricity Market
The deregulation of electricity markets has a very large impact on almost all the power systems around the world. Competitive markets are complex systems with many participants who buy and sell electricity. Much of the complexity arises from the limitations of the underlying transmission systems and the fact that supply and demand must be in balance at all times. Generally the Locational margin...
متن کاملMeasuring the Benefits of Greater Spatial Granularity in Short-Term Pricing in Wholesale Electricity Markets
This paper quantifies the economic benefits associated with the introduction of greater spatial granularity in short-term pricing in the California wholesale electricity market. On April 1, 2009, California switched to a nodalpricing market with an integrated day-ahead forward market and real-time imbalance market from its original zonal market design with bilateral day-ahead scheduling, a real...
